I have hooked everything up but the color coded, twisted-pair wires from the power and reset switches and Leds on the front of the case. The manual instructions (page 9) are confusing to me. They talk about an FPI connector with 10 pins (actually, pin #10 is missing), which I have located on the MB, and provide the following table:
Device Pins
HD_LED_P 1
FP PWR/SLP 2,4
HD_LED_N 3
RST_SW_N 5,8
RST_SW_P 6,7
KEY 9,10

One of the wires on each of the twisted pairs is white, the second is another color. Each of the twisted pairs is attached to a female recepticle. Each of the recepticles has a label, "Power SW," "Reset SW," etc.
Does the "Power SW" recepticle fit on the "FP_PWR/SLP" pins and if so, what color wire goes on which pin? Also, what's the deal with RST_SW_N and RST_SW_P? I assume one is positive and one negative, but which pair of pins do I use for my reset switch wires and what colors go where?

if you go by the manual online it is much less confusing.

To save you some time pins 1&3 are the HDD, 2&4 are the power led. 5&7 are for the reset button, and 6&8 is your power switch using the drawing on page 9.

To make matters worse, the green/white pair for the HD from the case light (which go on mobo pins 1&3) terminate in a 3 pin configuration on a lot of mobos.

the K7S5a has only 2 pins so You have to get a 3 pin to 2 pin adaptor (they actually come on some mobos) which does not come with . I just clipped a 2 pin adaptor off an old case and spliced it on after cutting off the 3 pin.

better pics on the web site. still does not tell you where to pins for the re-set pins go. I wasted a long time on this also.

That's the power LED connector. No need for big modifications - some people cut that 3-wide connector in half, and plug the halves to where they belong, some others use the more elegant method and rearrange the cables in the 3-wide connector to make it fit the 2-wide board header. The latter is easily done - just lift the tiny plastic tab that holds the contact in place, and pull at the wire to get it out. Reinsert in the empty middle slot, and there you go.

Thanks, Peter, you sound very knowlegeable. Can you tell me, does the orientation of the connector on the pins matter. Which color wire should go on which pin? Thanks.

The orientation of the wires matters on the led's for drive and power. The reset and power switches orientation is not a factor.

The positive is usually the colored wire in the pair. Pin one and two are the positive. So you would connect the "presumably" red wire for the hdd led to pin one and the usually white wire of the pair to pin three. Then you want to move the "usually' green wire for the power led to the center space of the 3 position connector. Then put the green wire onto pin 2 and its pair "usually" white goes to pin four.

If the led's don't light up just remove the connector and flip it around. It will not hurt anything if it is connected wrong. It just won't light up. Although changing the power led won't be as cut and dry. ;)

ususally face all the connector with marks (usually said PS SW, H.D.D. LED, PW LED, etc) facing toward the edge, in ECS K7S5A, the front of case. Work for me 90% of time. If it does not work, switch it (as said above, only LED matter) around.
