I literally killed multiple FIC VA-503+ 1MB mobos with flashes. I am now thoroughly paranoid of flashing the BIOS. I currently have an ECS K7S5A which I got about a month ago. How can I tell what rev. it is, and is it relevant to the flashing? What flash utility should I use and what precautionary measures (in detail please) should I use? Which BIOS update do you recommend? Did they solve problems for you?

There's a huge amout of info on the K7S5A in the Motherboard forum. Look for 'The New/Final "Official" ECS K7S5A Thread'

i flashed to the newest bios using the rom and flash executable off their own website...

just make sure you get the right ROM, and the RIGHT flash executable and everything should be OK.

and also, flash it under dos mode, not a dos window in win98/2k.

the first thing i did was flash my mobo after i bought it and its been running fine ever since.

Uhm, slight problem, ppl.

I have the correct latest ROM and flash software. Upon any attempt, in OR out of Winbloze, the flash software says that the Flash Part/Chip is not available and the function will fail. Nothing happens past this point. I don't get to the point of selecting the rom and flashing, etc. What can I do?

see if the flash utility has any command line options you an enter... sometimes they will let you override the warnings, but that is risky because if you are getting warnings/errors then obviously something's not right.
