I've checked other posts on this forum and still cant find a solution. I had a 600 Duron setup on this board and it ran perfectly. Was very stable and never froze. About 3 weeks ago I put in a 1.13ghz tbird and have been having lockup problems when the cpu is at full load. I run the Seti Driver on it and it freezes up normally after about 5 minutes of use. I did the voltage mod to the cpu to make it run at 1.85volts and that didnt help. I've tried windows 2k and XP and the same thing occurs. I've tried running the memory at the lowest settings possible and that doesnt work. I've got an Enhance 300watt power supply that is supplying power to 3 harddrives and 2 video cards,no cd-rom or floppy. I'm using 256mb SDRAM in the setup. I think ive tried everything to get this thing to run stable at full load. Sometime it even freezes when I'm transfering large files to it through my home network. The board is running a fairly recent BIOS update as it ran the duron fine and had no problems whatsoever. Sometimes it wont even boot into windows 2k at 1.13ghz and I have to run it at 8.5x100 instead of 8.5x133 and even at 850mhz it freezes about every 6 hours at full load. Any recomendations because im stumped. Any help is very much appreciated.

The specs again:
ECS K7S5A
1.13 266FSB tbird
256MB Crucial SDRAM
2x60GB 5400 Harddrives
1x 4.5GB harddrive
Nvidia geforce SDR
Trident 2mb video card

hmm...could it be an overheating problem? I actually have the K7S5A with lock-up problems during seti, but they only occur every few months.
Perhaps you should try a larger ps, even if the processor is only a 1GHz T-bird.

Shouldnt be an overheating problem. The BIOS shows its running around 42C in the BIOS and usually overheating problems cause the computer to reboot not lockup. But I mean sometimes it wont even boot into windows 2k at the speed its sopposed to run at.

Certain revisions of the k7s5a had problems with 1Ghz and faster T-Birds. ECS changed some resistor values on the board to make it more compatible with XP processors and as a side effect messed up tbird compatibility some. I've personally seen 2 k7s5a boards with this problem :( It was solved by switching to a XP processor in one and a T-Bird 950 in the other. Also running the processor with a 100mhz FSB seems to improve stability some but it will still crash eventually. The ECS forums at http://www.ocworkbench.com should have more information about this issue.

Problem fixed. I actually did not have an Enhance power supply in there as I had been switching out some PSU's and forgot. The 3.3v rail was rated very low and the total output was only 150watt for a 300watt power supply. So you probably know why it was locking up. Stuck in the enhance PSU and its been working like a charm at 1.13ghz.
