k7S5A latest bios problem/error RPL-ROM-FFC: 5 not found

I updated the bios on my k7s5a w/lan MB to the most recent few bios updates and I get some sort of novell lan dos driver trying load right after my hard drives get configured. The last thing I see on my screen is (RPL-ROM-FFC: 5 Not Found). Then it asks for a boot diskette. Won't go into WindowsXP. When I revert back to the Feb 2002 bios, problem goes away. I'd be happy with the older bios accept for that if I can overcome this problem I would be able to run an overclocking bios that gives me the same crap (RPL-ROM-FFC: 5 Not Found). . Anyone else been through this and if so please advise. BTW none of my boot devices are set for network selection when this occurs.

Thanks in advance,

Ray

Do you have the version of the board with the on-board ethernet port? (its located above your USB ports)

If you don't have a port there you need to get the NON-LAN version of the overclocking BIOS.

If you do have the version with LAN on-board it simply sounds like the BIOS is set to boot from the LAN card for some odd reason.

Get into the board's BIOS, under Advanced Settings change the boot devices to remove LAN from the list. This should solve your problem.

Well that's the LAN boot kicking in when it didn't find any local drives to boot from.

I found the 2002/06/26 BIOS doesn't boot off my SCSI adapter (genuine LSI dual-channel thingie) either, and reverted to the 04/29 BIOS. I contacted ECS about it, help is underway. Just skip the 06/26 BIOS.

Boot from LAN is not selected in bios. I looked for that 1st thing. My boot order is IDE, cdrom, then ide. The 6-26 & 4-29 bios give error, (RPL-ROM-FFC: 5 Not Found). Thanks for the comments Pete and Steve. Let me know if ECS helps with the SCSI problem. Maybe that'll cure me too.
