Ok I got a new case and put my new K7S5A motherboard in it, and the case's power LED is 3 pins wide (2 wires w/ an empty middle) and the motherboards Power LED is only 2 pins. Everything else fits (Power button, Reset, HD LED) but the Power LED just won't fit! what should I do? The LED on this case is cool I want it to work!

YOU ARE A WINNER ... you are the 1000th person to ask this question :)

The connector ain't weird, it's the new style. If your case doesn't have a mating connector, then modify the latter: Using a tiny screwdriver or a household needle, lift the tiny plastic tab holding the individual contact in the plug, pull the wire out and reinsert it in the middle position.

Hmm, I have one of these motherboards on the way as we speak. It will still work without a PowerLED connection right? Excuse my ignorance.

Also, I hear this motherboard is very sensitive with regards to power. EG, you want the 3.3V to be as close to 28 amps as possible. My power supply is only 20 amps. I've read some people that have had it work fine with something that low, but generally 28 is recommended. What's the rating on your power supply superman? And is everything working ok? thanks :D

mamz10k, it will run fine without the led connected. That's just to let you know it's powered up.

All you can do is try your power supply and see how it goes. I assume you're talking about the +3.3volt being only 20 amps. That may be a little light although I have heard some people tell that it's enough if you have a quality power supply that can put out a steady 20.

If you have weird problems the power supply should be your first suspect.

Hi,

I ran into this problem several months ago too and punted by not hooking up the LED cable at all. Should have searched here!

[Dumb Question]
If I want to do one of these work arounds - pull the wire and reinsert in the middle position OR, cut the connector in half - do I have to be concerned about polarity? Does it matter which of the 2 wires I pull and reinsert in the middle?
[/Dumb Question]

Incidentally, after running fine with Win2K for almost 6 months, the onboard LAN stopped working last night. The Tx packet count goes up, but Rx count stays zero. I had seen it before, about a month ago and rebooting used to fix it, but that didn't cut it last night. I had to install a NIC to get going.

Thanks,
