K7S5A Forced to 266?

I just got this motherboard a bit ago, and a tbird 1200/266 in today so I installed that. Its showing as 12x100, instead of 133, I tried to set it to 133/133 in the bios but it wouldn't power up and I had to clear the cmos, anyone have any ideas? I'm using crucial pc133 cas2 with it as well.
thanks,
Daniel
Edit: I'm told the chip was unlocked by default so maybe the mobo is thinking it has to default to 10x instead of 9, but the board doesn't support multiplier adjustment, ugh.

YOu said it boots with "12x100" setting? If thats whats happening sounds like you have 200fsb chip and not a 266. In other words its booting to whats it supposed to.

Yep, seems to be the problem, I bought it as a 266 chip so I didn't even check it and assumed there was something wrong but when I pulled it back out its a B chip, aka 200, grr.

Return dat badboy to whomever you purchased it from and demand the right chip! 😉
