K7S5A crashes with Firewire HDD... Any idea?

I've got a Firewire scanner attached to a ECS K7S5A using the 3-port Firewire controller that came with the Umax Astra 6400. The problem comes when I plug in a Firewire HDD unit into any of the ports - it blue screens. I didn'twrite down the module it crashes in unfortunately. The same setup was peachy on the Asus A7V133. Any ideas on how I can resolve this? The scanner works fine in Firewire...

You should have the latest BIOS in, if still no go, then it's a driver issue.
