k7s5a can't detect cdrom after reboot?

my ecs k7s5a w/ a duron 950mhz has problems detecting my cdrom drive after a reboot...anyone have a fix for this?
 
I had a similar problem with a dvdrom, I was using a 80 pin IDE cable on it. It finally stopped after I switched to a 40pin ATA/33 cable and works great now...no idea why.
