Just wondering if there were any suggestions for a decent video card to get for this board and specifically this game...I am currently running a 32m DDR Radeon and it just isn't cutting it and figure if I am upping the memory I might as well do video also..thanks

Hell you can play BF wit ha 32MB GF4MX, this game will runn waaaayyy smoother with more system memory. 512MB is minimum from my experiences.

It's the VPU man. I have 640mb of PC133 in my system and the same card as you. The game runs, but not so well at even the lowest settings.

Considering your financial restrictions i'd recommend one of the following:

Radeon 8500 w/128mb - $85
GeForce3 TI500 (128mb ddr) - $100
TI4200 w/128 ddr - $125

I'd say that unless you have a super fast cpu, the TI500 represents the best value here.

only the Geforce 3 ti200 is availble with 128 MB of ram. the ti500 was never made that way. anyway, i would suggest a radeon 9100 128 MB card, or an 8500 128 MB card.

hell, as long as you don't mind 800x600x32 with medium detail, i played it on an athlon 850 with 512 PC100 and a geforce2mx

sure it was crap compared to my current athlon 2000+, 512 DDR and radeon 9700, but it played well enough

System memory has a lot to do with BF1942. I went from 800x600 Med graphics with 256meg DDR 2100 to 512meg DDR2100 and can play at 1024x768 high graphics.

My machine (short ver):
KT4 Ultra
XP 2000+
Radeon AIW 8500 128
512 meg DDR 2100
Win XP Pro

Also check out tweaktown.com for the win xp optim. guide and BF1942 optim. guide (huge boost on older systems, I have done it with my neighbors comp).
