K7S5A and Temperature Monitoring?

I believe the K7S5A has temperature monitoring and Fan-speed monitoring, but can you set it to shut down if the CPU temp goes too high?

You can't do it from the BIOS (at least, I've seen no way). You can install windows software that will throttle the CPU, or even shut down the system, if temperatures exceed a setpoint. Can't say what Linux options exist -- rain may work. In the windows category, there are several options. I use CPUCool for FSB overclocking and monitoring, but I'm not sure how well its cooling feature works with this chipset.

Motherboard Monitor has a utility called Shut down now. It will shut down your comp if temp, fans get out of range.

Great program , get it here

I agree motherboard monitor is a good program for that...It won't help you in a catastrophic fan falling off, but that only happen in toms hardware's dreams, intel fanboys fantasies, and lowsy computer builders reality...

Fans do burn out, and bring processors with them. I don't think a fan has to fall off for catastrophic overheating. I supose that is an advertisement for having "overkill" heatsinks (or a nudge for mboard manufactures to start connecting the XP CPU diode to something real).
