K7S5A and speakers

Okay, I'm an idiot, I'll admit it. I have known to be either wrong or just dumb before, and now I can prove it. I don't remember something about my own motherboard. Does it, the AC97 Codec, support 4.1 channel sound? I thought it did, but when I go to look it up, noone says anything other than "AC97 Adio Codec". I need to know because I'm planning on getting some new 4.1 surround speakers for X-mas, but if I can't actually use two of them, it would be a waste to get more than a 3 piece system.

Insane3D is correct. Im not using the onboard sound cuz its a bit weak. There are lots of sound cards that will do 5.1for cheap out there.

Oh well, guess I'll just have to get a new soundcard too. I wasn't going to ask my dad to spend this much on me, but he volunteered to get both for me, so I am thankfull that he did. Now I have to figure out what I am going to do with these speakers. Hmm...could give em back to the guy my brother borrowed them from four or more years ago. 😕

I was going for that or the Hecules Fortissimo II. Leaning toward the Herc card though, Creative really needs some competition in the audio market.

Woohoo!! Got my speakers!! Only thing is, some fat head from Compusa talked my dad into getting a card that STILL wouldn't do four speakers. (Guess what brand it was? Compusa brand you say? Bingo!) So basically...::Runs off to Newegg.com and looks for the Fortissimo II.::

I have a K7S5A right here with a SBLive 5.1 installed and it works great. I disabled both the onboard sound and the modem(I like my cable modem) 😀

Disabling the modem is a moot point. Unless you install the Modem AMR risor card, it wont allocate a IRQ🙂🙂

Last I checked Newegg was out of SB Live Values, and Tigerdirect doesn't have any. My brother can only order from those two companies unless he makes a phone call or two to his bank so...::Runs to get the Fortissimo again::
