I have tried 3 different video cards (geforce 1 ddr, geforce 2 gts, and a geforce 4 4200) on this board and none of them are stable. They all crash out of 3d programs. I am not overclocking anything in my system and have an antec 400 watt powersupply. Does this card have issues with agp cards? The system seems nice and stable when I put in an old pci video card. However I am not able to run 3d programs to test out the system with the old pci video card. Any help would be helpful.

since my k7s5a is working fine with my gf 4 4200. and i used both of my ddr slots to a total of 1 G (512 each slot) so my guess is you had a defective board...
RMA it if you can...

had the same problem w/ PCI vid card.. and the remedy was a BIOS flash..

i've done that but i think that has more to do with the windows os and not the bootup process.. i can't even get the post screen when i change vid cards and i'm sure it's in snuggly and i hear no beeps.

I?ve built a few rigs with the K7S5A and G4 MX 440s and had no stability issues.

Maybe your internal case temp is too high. Try running your system without the cover on.

OR

The heatsink on the SIS chip does not have good surface contact. Try removing the heatsink and using some good thermal grease for better contact.

Tips from OCworkbench forums.

I had the same problem, but it turned out to be the power supply.

i know it's not the first two because i haven't had any stability issues since i got it and the side of the case has always been off and i put a window fan on the side of it too.. the only thing i could think is it could be the power supply but i have tried starting the system up with just the processor, ram, and video card and it doesn't work so i don't see how that can be the cause..
