I have a K7S5A and will be getting another shortly for an XP 1800, the other will run either a 1g duron or 1.2 t-bird, have both, just haven't decided how to use them  . The one right now is running pc133 and I want to stick ddr in both of them. What brand and "quality" would be recommened? Do I need the "high performance" ddr or can I use the basic sticks with no problems? I will not be overclocking unless I use the Duron.

Thanks for the inputs

I've got a pair of generic 256MB PC2100 sticks in my K7S5A and everything runs perfectly, not a hint of instability. Whatever you get should be fine.

Whatever brand and speed grade you get, TEST IT. There's soooo much broken RAM in the market right now, never go without memtest86-ing what you bought, in the system you'll be using it, at the speed it's advertized to be.

Running two sticks of Crucial PC2100 in my K7S5A right now. No problems at all. Works great.

With not having used ddr in my current rig using the K7S5A, I appreciate the help on this. Thanks Peter for the link, I will check that out. I will probaly get a name brand ram, but their "basic" sticks. Thanks for the inputs so far!

Crucial's been working for me. The performance gain over PC133 CL2 is not that great... 0% to 10% in my experience. So if you have some good-quality PC133 to re-use, you might consider regaining that 10% with the next-faster CPU instead. :D
