Hi all. I recently replaced my WD 40gb with a Maxtor 60gb. After about 1 month the maxtor died when I tried to boot into windows....it will boot then half way though it will say it cannot find the drive. In other words, it gave me the options to retry, abort or fail. So I put my WD drive back. It was taking a long time to detect the drive in the BIOS but after setting the drive back to single it was alright. Then I say somewhere on this forum that a bad IDE controller could very well cause such problems. The yesterday I had a couple of weird problems in Win 98 so I rebooted...had blue screens a few times. Then the last time it went into the Bios detection fine then to the next screen where it says searching for Floppy boot devices then IDE boot devices...It found the IDE boot device but it will just stop there and not go any further.

I tried the WD diagnositic and it found zero errors on the hard drive. Please help. I think the MB just screwed up on me. I really frustrated. I was thinking about an upgrade end of the year but I think now I have no choice. I still want to fix this problem...I believe this board has a 3 year warranty from Asus, right?

Thanks for all the help.
