Rumours abound about the ATA/66 (UDMA 4) support on the K7M and K7V boards... Some say it's buggy at best, but that board doesn't normally support ATA/100 (UDMA 5). I say normally, because Maxtor was selling ATA/100 abled hard drives which, with 80-wire cable, ran @ ATA/66 just fine on them, of course the hardrives would need to be flashed to perform @ ATA/100. ANYWAYS, back to the point... If you're going to spend the green for an ATA/100 HD, for a system that isn't able to acknowledge it, your best off by spending $35 to $40 more for a OEM Promise ATA/100 controller card and get your speed outta your drive... You'll love yourself for it!!!:)

I use a Promise Ultra DMA66 card in my K7V to support my WD 20.5, and you can see the difference!

i just have my new system up abit k7t-raid, was thinking to get 2 imb 15g ata100, they get only 1 in stock, so i took one to test my unit, now system ok, i go back try to get one more, they say 15g is discontinue, so i take a 30g. put 30g on k7m, use my old 13.6g and the ibm15g to creat a array around 26g. spending half day, what a suprise k7m is not compatible with ata100 hd.
by the way on my son's computer, i already installed him a modified fasttrak100, it works well.
and you know what, once you are capable to have raid, the chances are you spending more on those hd.
