K63+ not fully functional - BIOS problem?

Have a SS7 desktop system which I recently upgraded with an AMD K63+450 mobile processor, FOP32 fan, CPU o'clocked to 600Mhz (6x100), with 128M ram, Geforce 2 MX 32M video card, W98.
Before installing the CPU I flashed the BIOS to the latest version I could find (Superpower the maker of the SP-A586B motherboard no longer in business).
Has Aladdin V chipset 2A5KKSMAC-00, Award BIOS V4.51PG with P&P extension V1.0A. Upgraded BIOS from "SPA586B VA.5" to "A586B VER: A.9". Got the wrong part number message when I was flashing but proceeded anyway.
Nearly killed it, because it refused to boot at first. Removed BIOS chip which then decided to work 24 hours later after riding around in my pocket.
Lo' and behold system booted to Windows after several attempts, with updated version of BIOS in place. At least that's what it now says. When system boots up it recognies CPU as K63 but not as K63+ - thought they were exactly the same except for thickness and voltage?
While system runs cool and stable it seems CPU is not fully functional. Si Soft Sandra tells me Write Allocation is not enabled.
This would seem to be a BIOS?CPU compatability problem.
Tried Powertweak which seems to do the trick but is this a complete solution?

Well, to check if the proc's functioning as a K6-3+, download WCPUID here.

Install it and run it to see if (the proc you have) is identified as a K6-3+.

I'm not familiar with Aladdin V chipset-based Super 7 motherboards, but what is the amount of L2 onboard cache on your motherboard. Be sure that it's enabled in the bios b/c it will be used as L3 cache running at 100 MHz fsb.
