K6000 Cards

Just received two Nvidia K6000 cards to go in our beefy visualization workstations made by Boxx... thought you guys might want to see.

They came straight from the vendor - so there is no fancy packaging here!

They each went into their own workstations alongside:

OCZ Revo 3 X2 (just above the K6000 in the last photo)
Nvidia K5000
Adaptec RAID card
2x 10Gbps fiber cards

These two boxes also each have:

3xSSD's in RAID5
3x7200RPM Drives in RAID5
256GB of RAM
2x8 Core Xeon Procs (watercooled)

Definitely smoking boxes!

In case you're wondering these are used for high end scientific visualization... and we use the hell out of them!

porn music 😀

Heh 🙂

We do use the Stereo 3D capabilities of these cards. One box is hooked up to a 65" 3D TV... the other is actually hooked up to a 31.5" 4k monitor (damn that thing is beautiful!)

Our simulations produce ~2TB of 3D data (we generally run on 5,000 to 10,000 processors on supercomputers)... 3D visualization is extremely useful for understanding what happened and showing others...
