K6 & K6-II CPU'S

Perhaps a little more detail? Motherboard? Did you have BIOSes which supported your processors properly?

OS? RAM?

I've got a Shuttle 560 MB with AMD k6 233 on it. Never had
any problems. Has 64megs of EDO Ram on it...........Greg

Get the right motherboards and the K 6-2 lines are completely stable. I have two K6-2 500's running in my childrens computers that have been totally stable for over 2 years. Installed then so long ago that I don't even remember the names of the motherboards, except that they are two different brands.

I had a K6-2 450 on a Soyo 5EMA+ v1.0 with 128MB of RAM, the OS was Win98SE.
It was good for almost any task, running quickly, but it has some compatibility problems... Intel CPUs will be always better in the compatibility/stability department, maybe not in the speed one...
I'm on a 750MHz Thunderbird on an A7V and WinXP Pro now, and the next rig will surely be an Intel, I'm tired with the compatibility/stability issues my current rig has!

No matter what you think, Intel CPUs rules, because speed is nothing when you don't have the control over it!

i've had a k6 233, k6-2 300, k6-2 450, & k6-3 450 on fic 503+, fic pa2013, some iwill ss7 mobo, & some dfi ss7 mobo. all ran stable and setup was a piece of cake.
