K6-2 550Mhz Vs. K6-III 450Mhz

I have a Tyan Trinity ATX S1598 super7 mobo with a K6-2 350Mhz processor
I want to upgrade to the fastest k6-* processor I can get.
I've looked around and I've seen a 550Mhz k6-2, and a 450Mhz k6-3. Which of these would be faster? What are the pros and cons of each?

They would end up at roughly the same speed, however the 550 will be cheaper. Even better would be a K6-2/600+ with 128k of full speed L2 cache, .18u die, and great overclocking ability. This thing is an excellent performer, but very difficult to get your hands on. Check Tom's Hardware for the full review.

I think that the K6-2 550 would be faster in business applications, but the K6-3 450 would probably do better in games. However, with the 100MHz clock speed difference, the K6-3 might not be that much faster. That extra cache really helps.

If I remember correctly the K6-III performs about 8%-10% faster than an identically clocked K6-2...
so a 450 K6-III would be slower than a 550 K6-2...

plus finding a k6-III these days is hard and would probably cost more than the $70 you pick a K6-2 550 up for

ohh wow... just looked up some benches

in business the K6-III kills the K6-2 and even the PII!!!

In gaming however the K6-2 wins because of its higher clock...
