K6-2 450mhz and Geforce MX

I was wondering if the K6-2 450mhz is adaquate enough to be paired with a geforce MX. I have a friend who plays Counterstrike a lot...and he currently has a Voodoo3 2000 overclocked to 175mhz...however the framerates are still low....I'm blaming the CPU for the low fps...and I'm guessing that getting a K6-2 550mhz wouldn't help much since I know those chips have horrible FPU performance. Would a MX give a significant increase in fps??? ....this is at 1024x768 by the way...any help would be appreciated.

My voodoo3 3000 wasn't maxxed out with my k6-2 450. It wasn't until I got an athlon 600 that my video card even took a hit at a higher resolution. A GFMX would be good to pair it with if your current video card is junk or the MX would be the first card you buy for the system. If you have something like a voodoo 3 already it wouldn't be worth it.

I dunno. I saw a nice increase on my 2nd system (Celeron 366@583) when I bough a Prophet 2 MX to replace a V3 3k. But I do have an OC'ed celly and they perform much better than any k6-2/3. I went from 20-40 FPS at 10x7 w/V3 to 40-80 FPS w/MX in counter-strike. But k6-2's are horrible for gaming period. I don't think the MX would help you that much with that chip.... but like rominl, I to don't have any numbers to back that up.
