Well maybe they can now attract those billions of dollars into their military, no?

They should livestream the BTS "whatever they are" going about their military stuff. That's their billions back in the bank. Or sell the rights for that to Netflix.

Sounds like opsec fun. Basic would work, but not deployed.

Primadonas and celebrity worship have no place in the military, breeds alienation and threatens unit cohesion. You didn't see Prince Harry being called that or treated differently in Afghanistan for a reason, and they still had to worry about him being a high value target. A lot of the same concerns would apply here. Not worth it.

Most likely they will all be in the KATUSA program...Korean Augmentation to the US Army. It will be a cake walk for them. Work, sleep, and eat with U.S. soldiers.

The ROK Army is another story.

The ROK Army is a beast they want no part of. Those guys are serious hard core.

That's going to be a rude awakening going from boy band to military. I would imagine Korea's military is not exactly a walk in the park either. I wonder what happens in mandatory military when you fail basic training, they make you keep doing it until you pass I assume. Some people are just not up to par or may even have physical disabilities that make it harder.

Elvis did it after some "persuasion" as a regular solider. That won over some people.

After reading the wiki, it seems that there was the option of "Special Services" for Elvis but Tom Parker advised against it.

Who knows whether BTS will go the tough route or the "celebrity accommodation" route.

The problem with kpop, the shelf life isn't that long. By the time BTS gets out of the military, a younger kpop band will have taken their place.

I'm just picturing a vietnam flashback scene, except it's all backstage related incidents where things went wrong last minute before a show.

When joining the military is preferable to the manufactured, pre-fab hell of being a member of a kpop group...

Honestly, I'm sure a couple of those guys see this as their "out"
