I work in a K-Mart and basically I'm right near the cash registers. There are four of the check yourself out registers. Anyway none of them have their normal lights on, none of them have anything on the monitor, but yet people still try to scan their items on them. It's hilarious to see them just keep trying, and trying, and trying, and trying until finally someone mentions "Hey that doesn't work."

And then this guy just asked me if he bought a SIM card if it would just work like any phone.

"If I bought a sim card, I can just put it in any phone and it'll work yeah?"

LOL!!!!

A SIM card is a mini-card/chip that goes into majority of the phones that use GSM technology like AT&TWS, T-Mobile, Nextel, and one more but I can't think of their name right now. They have roll-over minutes.

The guy thought you could just pick one of those chips up and you would have service. There are TONS of those kinds of people out where I work. (The Ghetto.)

SIM card is used in GSM phones. Stores all your acct and phone book info. You can take it out and swap it among other GSM phones.

Edit: It's Cingular, Nocturnal.

They're part GSM/TDMA or CDMA I can't recall. Their new lines of phone use SIM cards.

I've seen that before too. Why did K-Mart spend money on those registers if they are off all the time?

Who's the dummy, K-Mart putting check out registers that don't work to piss off their customers. No wonder K-Mart isn't doing so well.

From what they told me they stopped using them due to theft. But appearantly one of the bigger bosses said to re-start it up. They used to have it chained off but since the boss told them to re-start it back up they've taken down all the chains that used to be up at one point.
