I USED to be an employee at K-marts Ocala FL Distribution center. I have not had a 40 hour check in over 10 weeks, In Jan I had 2 checks for only $88 after taxes and benefits ! After they filed Chapter 11 they cut out the company match in our 401K plam, and before that they matched in company stock (we had no choice) and now thats worth crap. They just got 10 new managers and supervisors, and not 1 was hired from the inside. Now today, they made the front page of the local paper because they bounced a $97,000.00 check to the eletric company ! So I went out and got a new job today working a a Wal-mart Distribution making $2 an hour more, it's just a 45 minute drive from my house.

Sorry to hear about your job. Just look at it as a forced career change/upgrade. At least you are making more money working for the Walton family now.

sorry to hear that, but hey, i'm happy for you for your new higher pay job 🙂
i dont think k-mart can survive this though ...

Don't think they'll survive, eh? Hmm.. That would be kinda sad, really.

I wonder what their buildings would turn into.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. K-Mart never got their shlt together when it came to improving their image. Chapter 11 is the result.

I think K-Mart will come out of this just fine, I mean they've been around a long time and have plenty of loyal customers and also those who will come back and back them if they would just change a few things for the better. They will be fine, you'll see.

K-mart isn't a "specialty business" where they have to have certain "loyal" customers come back time and time again. The bulk of K-mart's appeal is to the masses, who frankly have very little store loyalty, if any. This is why Wal-Mart has built so much on their low prices. Prices are what drive this part of the market, and Wal-mart beats out K-mart anytime. It's not "loyalty" that makes this market, it's sheer prices and mass appeal. Chains like this don't survive on the same million customers going in and out.
