OfficeMax has K-Byte memory modules on sale this week with instant rebates and mail-in rebates.

there is a one rebate limit.

Anyone have any experience running this brand of memory and in particular in an old Dell running a celeron on a BX board?

Make sure your old BX board will accept High Density chips, before you buy. Most PC133 is High Density nowadays. If They have PC100 You should grab that and it should run on your system.

I'm gonna go buy some tonight. Thanks for the post.

Can you post a little more info?

I searched the officemax website and it was listed at $29.99. Now I don't know if that's before or after rebates.

There are two MIR, and one IR. The two MIR's add up to $22, and the IR is $10... so that's a total of $32 off. So I would assume the $29.99 is the price after the IR?

Just wondering because my friend is interested in purchasing SDRAM.

I just got back from OM $29.99 + $1.65 tax. -$10 OM rebate and -$12 in K-byte rebate.

Thanks.

I ended up buying some of the k-byte from OM this week and installed it in my sister's computer.

Her computer calls for PC66 (old Dell). I ended up buying the Kbyte PC133 256mb and it worked in her machine...only thing is it is only reading it as 128mb.

I also tried running this PC using PNY memory and it was a no-go. Board would read it.

My understanding is that even though this is PC133, her machine is only running it as PC66. But I am a bit confused as to why it reads it as 128mb as opposed to 256mb?

Because her Dell BIOS only supports RAM in 128MB modules or smaller. You should have checked the online manual first before buying. The Emachine I upgraded only supports 128MB modules, so I bought the 128MB stick. Works great as PC66!

Thanks for the deal!
