I have k-9 mail setup on my Android phone (DTEK-50) to poll a mailbox for alarm alerts. Server issues, environmental etc.

But every now and then, it just does not poll. Switching wifi networks or going on/off wifi sometimes triggers it to start working again.

I'm sitting at work and suddenly I get an alert for a hydro failure... the alarm is dated for when I was working in my electrical panel like 2 weeks ago. Why did it only poll now? It only started to do this since I switched to this phone.

i have the same issue and im pretty sure it has to do with android going to "sleep" to save battery

If that's the case, you should be able to prevent Android from putting it to sleep.

This is how it works on my 6p, so if you have something different this may not be 100% correct... but:
1. open settings
2. go to and tap "battery"
3. top right corner, hit the 3 dots button and tap "battery optimization"
4. There will be a drop down box that says "Not optimized" by default. Tap that and switch your list to "All Apps"
5. Find the one you want to be kept awake, tap it and select "don't optimize"

done and done
