The Products:
JVC GD-R770 Camcorder = $246.99 (Normal Price = $299.99)
JVC Camcorder Battery = $30 (Normal Price $89.99 --> On sale for $59.99 --> minus $29.99 for package discount)
3 Pack of JVC MiniDV Tapes = $15.00 (Normal Price $19.99 --> minus $4.99 for package discount)
Total = $291.99
The above package discount for the battery and tapes is only available online. On the camera's product page near the top there's a link that says "Web Only: Save $35 on JVC Tapes and Battery with Purchase." The only way to get the $222.79 price is if you do in-store pickup.
How to get the discounts:
Camera + Battery + Tapes = $291.99
Apply 10% off AAA Coupon Online (available at "obese money holder") (-$29.20)= $262.79
Apply $40 off $199 Coupon In Store (ditto) (-$40.00)= $222.79 Final Total (before tax)
Essentially you're getting $409.88 (at the normal prices... camcorder=$299.99, battery=$89.99, tapes=$19.99) worth of product for $222.79.
Recap:
1. Place order for the whole package online
2. Select in-store pickup
3. Apply AAA 10% Coupon on the Circuit City website
4. Pick up the product in-store and ask to apply the $40 off $199 coupon - this is a YMMV, but I was able to do it without a problem and would assume that most customer service people will do it.
I was debating between this and getting the Panasonic GS80 and a 5 pack of tapes for $160 ($199.99 camera + $25 tapes and then apply the AAA coupon and $40 off), however after playing around with both cameras in-store I decided that I liked the JVC better and the deal was pretty hot for the JVC getting the extra battery. The JVC is also much smaller than the Panasonic which was a big selling point for me.
The JVC has great reviews online and lots of positive feedback on the Circuit City website. I've been playing around with it all night and have been pleased with my purchase so far. Hope this deal is useful to some!
