I've been thinking about getting a dv cam this x-mas...is this one any good? the price seems alright, plus that $100 for footlocker and the free cam stuff

Not a bad deal given this camcorder has got pretty good reviews (on amazon at least - better than that Sharp camcorder 6 months ago) and this Giftcard is enticing.

this camera isnt quite as good as the sharp (i just bought the sharp refurb on ebay, you can get this jvc on ebay for about $340)

the jvc has 16x zoom, the sharp has 26x. the jvc has a higher res ccd though, 680k , vs 460k. thats 1024x768 vs 640x480 basically. what else... the jvc doesnt have analog in, the sharp does, the sharp has IR filters (this actually works you can practically see in the dark), sharp has color viewfinder.

then again the sharp has tons of complaints about bad heads, and the worse CCD. still a good deal, but well $420 for this cam, isnt really that great, since you can buy them on ebay for $340ish .

the jvc has a higher res ccd though, 680k , vs 460k , this mean JVC is a lot better.

After seeing all the bad feedback on the Sharp, I wouldn't go for it even if it had a 26X zoom. Besides, the JVC comes with a tripod camera kit and a 100 foot locker GC. Can't beat that.

its pretty hard to be tell the difference between 680 and 460 on a dv cam unless you are taking still shots. most older hi8 cam's only have 270k ccd's by comparison

Is this the same digital video camera that is repackaged as the RCA digicam
available from Officemax for $300? (And no rebate required).

Down to $399.88 now.

But I don't see the free bag, was it a special offer or is it in the package?

yepp...even hotter now, the free bag requires a coupon...............but you basically add the free kit(it also comes with a lousy tripod and a lens cleaning kit WOW! lol)
But yes, it's even hotter now, and if you're crazy and BVG this sucker to $344, and get the kit AND the $100 GC then use the GC at the next friends and family thingy you essentially get the camcorder for $244 with a kit! Insanely cheap...except umm I really don't need one.

lol

why not get the DVL-725U (1.02M pixel) from buydig.com. cost about $500 including shipping. you also get the $100 footlocker gift certificate. they're getting to be reputable lately.

BVG?

man...there really should be a FAQ somewhere that explains BVG(is there? there might be in the newbie threads but since I'm not a newbie I never actually read hehe)...but it's Best Value Guarantee, which was started by American Express as far as I know, and is currently available on a few credit cards, many of which are offered by American Express. It lets you pricematch stuff.
