I have a new JVC Digital Video Camera. Im not interested in taking pictures using the memory feature, instead i want to make movies then transfer them to my laptop. Is there anyway i can do this? I put the tab on memory and it wont let me record anything. I just want to make some movies and edit them on my laptop. Do i need special software? i have the USB cable that came with it. I need some help.

What memory are you talking about? I believe the memory in JVC for taking photos. If you want to edit videos then you would record the video with a JVC then transfer the images using a usb cable/video editing software that came with your camera. Preferrably, you want to capture the images using an IEEE1394 card if you have one. By the way, you don't use the memory to record movies, you would use the regular 6mm tape. Check the manual that came with the camera.

yep...like he said a ieee 1394 (commonly known as firewire) ....your laptop probably doesn't have that kind of port so you'd need something like this:

firewire card
