Juvenile question: if underwear were made from HEPA filters, could you fart and have it not smell?

You'd need an airtight seal. It could still leak out of the leg holes and the crotch. It would also stain easily.

HEPA filters are not efficient at filtering molecule sizes typical of VOCs (volatile organic compounds). For gaseous odors you would need a chemical ad/ab/sorption process (i.e. activated charcoal).

I was JUST going to post that.

What he says is correct. HEPA filters are no good at removing smells. For that you need an activated charcaol filter. That's why many air cleaners have both.

sorry i'm laughing @ this thread...it's ok i guess...

one time, i was sleeping and my friend sat on my face, and laid a semi loud yucky juicy sounding FART and i almost died....i washed my face 100 times and i could still smell that putrid flatulence right under my nose....i have yet to take revenge upon him..but i fear that he'll counterfart....he's friggin deadly at that art....

HEPA filters are measured in microns, molecules like methane are measured in angstroms. That 6 orders of magnitude smaller (base 10). But I like the way you think Good imagination.
