Makes me want to rip out my eyes and burn publishers offices to the ground!

Does it give you a headache?

I like it. Everything looks well structured. It's just sometimes you get a line that is stretched too much since the next line had a large word.

I see your avatar is in the process of removing the eye.

Dali agrees with me.

Justified looks good when done well. But, to do it well, you shouldn't use stupid tricks.

1) I do-
n't like to-
o ma-
ny
hy-
phen-
ations.

2) Learn to use the no-break space. That is, the item following the space must be on the same line. It keeps things together that should be together (like units after a number).

3) Don't use justification on a tiny width column. That means every line has visual flaws. Justification only works when you have sufficient width so that the eye can't see changes in the width of spaces.

4) D o n ' t p u t s p a c e s w i t h i n w o r d s.

It takes a bit more work to do justification correctly, but when you do, it is readable, professional, and attractive.

ragged right edge makes it much easier for the eye to pick up which line it's on and which it's going to next.

I work in proofreading, editing, typesetting, etc. and we justify most things. But we have rules for how to do hyphenation so there aren't any lines with enormous gaps between words. I never do more than three lines in a row with hyphenation.

I don't really have an opinion about it, it's just what we do. Justified can look good if you do it right. We don't use it for things like cells in tables.

Don't like it in general, hate it when letters within a word start getting spaces between them.

I like justified text. It adds a professional feel to letters, reports, specifications, etc.
