Democrats should be volunteering to do everything for this woman for the next 2 years so she can live and work in padded, child-proofed rooms. Wrap the woman in bubble wrap if you have to. Put her in diapers and change them for her. Keep her away from hard surfaces.

How soon before Trump reminds us he can pick another SC justice? Tact has never been his strong suit.

Might be this one next

janice rogers brown, DC Circuit
Precedent: Deemed “not qualified” to sit on California’s Supreme Court by a state bar association panel. (She was appointed anyway.)
Case closed: Argued that a woman coerced into having sex with her boss was not a harassment victim unless she had been punished, demoted, or fired as a result.

But maybe not. She's on the short list for AG.

Man, this sucks. My daughter's daycare was celebrating superhero day today, so we put our 20 month old in an RBG shirt (black shirt with collar and necklace) and did up her hair. I drop her off and hear the news on the radio.

As much as I want her to pull through and sit on the bench forever, she needs to do what's best for her and her health. No shame in retiring if that's what she needs to do. If Trump had any decency, he would nominate Merrick Garland to fill her seat (at least for some quid pro quo from Pelosi) but I'm not holding my breath. If RBG steps down, I'm 100% convinced Trump would nominate a woman to succeed her-- probably Amy Coney Barrett.
She should cut a deal with Trump, give him three names to choose from in return for her retirement. I honestly wouldn't have an issue with that. Assuming of course that she does want to retire.

easy: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Bernie Sanders.

😀

Well there is an issue.

Ginsberg- I will make a deal with you. I'll step down if you agree to pick one of these three names

Trump- Great! It's a deal.

Ginsberg resigns.

Trump- I nominate

415087

Oh, that's a neo-nazi.

Ginsberg- YOU PROMISED!

Trump- Who cares? That's not binding on me.

Yes it's an extreme, but it is legal to appoint anyone Trump sees fit and no agreement verbal or written would be binding on the Executive for purposes of Constitutionally delegated actions.

Trump will do as he always has and that is whatever he pleases.

Then I guess RBG better hang on for two more years, possibly six.

She has to be more careful. She has to remain on the bench at least until Rump is out of office. I think she knows this.
God has a sick sense of humor.

Get well RGB!
I don't know about God, but I'm not laughing.

They said fractured ribs. That would be really painful. If just cracked, she'll be better soon. On the news last night they opined 2 weeks. I'm thinking that means cracked?

How the hell do you fall like that in your office?

How the hell do you fall like that in your office?

Being a diminutive 85yr old with the expected amount of balance and strength? I've seen well muscled youngsters fall over themselves before, with little cause, so anything is possible with a swift gust of gravity.

I cracked a trio of ribs once, when I lived in Florida. A friend who was visiting, and who didn't know of my injury, was goofing around and tried to shove me off a dock we were walking down. The automatic, reflexive resistance that took over once the shove started I remember being some of the worst pain I've ever felt. Up there with mangled hands. Ribs suck. I still cringe when I think about what happened to Rand Paul, that poor bastard. He puts on a good face now, but I would not be the least bit surprised to hear he deals with pain every day. That guy messed him up.

As stated earlier, she should have retired during a Democrat Presidency. It would have been the smart thing to do. I guess she had her reasons.

I hope she gets better soon. That kind of damage has to be hard on an 85 year old body.

Maybe I should have said retired during a democratic presidency and not in a presidential election year.

Hard to predict that because a 300 day pause has never happened before, ever. It’s their job to vote and they essentially said fuck you I’m only going to do the easy work I like doing. 100% unaccepable, Obama even nominated a guy that Mitch said Obama wouldn’t have the guts to nominate Conservative type judge.
The stolen seat is something that cannot be allowed to happen without a response.

I do agree when you are in your late 70s/ early 80s it’s probably a smart time to resign. That would have put her in Obama’s second term

Or the year before, or the year before... The Republican goal as stated wasn't due to any law or Constitutional mandate, but to simply find any excuse to deny Obama's choice, not even talking to him. Garland was picked in mid-March, and Obama was the legit President for the better part of a year.

No, Ginsberg was and is able to function and knows that there is no length Republicans will go to appoint anyone who suits Trump and he has demonstrated his own personal interest matters.

She’s a proper older woman, no way is she ever going to a keg party

Actually, she can handle her own. Remember when she was falling asleep during that State of the Union speech some years ago? Her and Scalia had been tossing a few back before that (bourbon, I think it was)
