Netgear prosafe went bonk. Replaced with DLINK. New router is working no problem. Had to create a port trigger for vpn to work with my business/work VPN token. All the other computers on the network can access internet.
My main home box. Vista 64 ultimate. Worked fine until last night before bed I accepted the updates. Came down this morning logged on. Each browswer comes up blank...AND when closed performs a crash. BOTH. Sidebar works, and is getting information. Ping works, Dianose and Repairs finds nothing. I restore to before the updates, still does not work. IPConfig /all shows all is good. No firewall rules etc. Other computers on network and behind router are fine, using my wifes now.
COD4 when trying to access multiplayer...finds servers, but will not show them in the list...close it down, it crashes also. I have installed nothing other than the new hardware and the updates that have been uninstalled and sent back to last known good configuration (restore point)
Think the stack is corrupt? Is there a way to completely uninstall and reinstall the network services? I could not find it.
Thanks.
JC
Update 2: Looking in the Network and Sharing Center, I clicke Connect to a Network. Says already connected to the internet. Clicked on the would you like to Browse, and IE came up and worked. On it now. Firefox, still no go. AND if I launch IE from the shortcuts and start a new session NOTHING. The only thing I saw different was that when using the Connect to the Internet was ther was an "about:" in the address. From there I could go into and change and browse properly. Not from a new session... ?????? HELP
Update: Chrome will not work either. It also crashes upon closing. Scanning for viruses now, but unlikely. I do not visit any bad sites or get suspicious email. Again, it was all working prior to the Windows updates. I reverted back, still does not work.
