Just wondering what you would do(YACT maybe??)

I am thinking about buying a new vehicle. Let me explain my current status. Im living at home while going to college full time(mon-wed-fri 8-12)

I work for my dad rufly around 28 hours each week during semester and bring home about 835-900 a month. During the summer it will be a full time job and I can always work saturdays if wanted to make a little more( I dont work weekends currently).

I will sell my current vehicle and put it has a down payment.
Im looking to spend between 15k-20k for a 00,01,02<0(if Im lucky). I also want to buy some 18s or 20s for it. Right now Im eyeing tahoes, yukons, and four runners. I currently drive this blazer , its a 92 and has about 185k without one problem, excellent condition inside and out. With my income @ part time, if you were in my shoes, would you see a big problem at my age buying a vehicle around this price?

I dont pay for college, I help on insurance but the rents take care of most of it and I paid my cc off(only a few hundred) and currently pay 75 for a loan(about 500 left), 40 for a cell phone, and 100 for a four wheeler payment each month.

Again, I make around 800-900 part time and thats the minimum I can work mon-fri during college semester.

Do you guys think Im to young and should hold off or would you think Im in a good enough level of income to afford this?

I hope I provided enough information. I know I will get flamed, smart ass comments, etc but please giveme some advice and opinions that are worth thinking about.

Thanks

Well Im pretty sure I can but I was thinking do I wanna be paying for nothing but this for the next 5+ years or so?

How many of you did this at a young age?

I know I make enough money to pay that+insurance+ few other things.

Just wanting other peoples opinions if they would or if they would hold off and save up a little for it?

Well, that's the story then. Me, personally, I wouldn't tie all of my money up with just the car. What good is having the car if you can't do anything else? Didn't you say you've never had any problems with your car? I'd probably stick it out with that or perhaps get something a bit cheaper. There is nothing wrong with your truck, it's not like you are driving a Yugo or something. If you have enough money (after paying for the new car) to do all of the things you want then go for it. Otherwise I wouldn't do it.

From your posts it does not sound like you are ready for that kind of debt, but that is just me. I'd move out before I bought a new car.

If your car is "without one problem, excellent condition inside and out", then why accrue some unnecessary debt? Save your money, and get a new car when you get a good paying, full time job. Or is getting a nice, new vehicle just to impress the girl? 😉

I like my blazer, and beleieve it or not. the gf has an IDENTICAL vehicle to mine, same year, blazer, its red, both 3'' lift, both 33'' tires, step bars, etc, etc, etc. My job I got last year working with my dad is 30 minutes away from my house and college if about 15 miles away from the house and the GF lives about 18 miles away from my house. The 3 places Im always at are as far apart as you can get so gas mileage is my main concern. the rims can wait but sooner or later Im going to have to get a new vehicle even if mine is fine and dandy.

But as summer approaches and gas prices get higher, its going to kill me, my blazer gets around 15 mpg or so with the lift and tires.

thats my main concern. and toot, the gf wants me too but she wont make my decision for me since its my money(she has never had a job!!). I told her if she wants me to get anything she wont get mad no matter the outcome whether I choose to buy a wagon or a tahoe, etc.
