...They suck me back in!"

I love that scene.... Man have I lived that before and here it is again.

Got a call from an old tour manager buddy of mine.
He's putting a crew together for another 'retro rocker' package.
yay. I'm so underwhelmed.

While the money's ok for a few one-offs, my day gig has a 401K. and Health insurance.
I didn't get no stinkin' 401K with freakin' Journey, I'm not likely to piss this job away for a couple of weeks in Europe.

wellllll, maybe.... Are we doing Barcelona???? I love Barcelona.

Well at least you seem suitably ashamed of that fact.

Never had any "friends" of dubious gender present.

I think he was referring to you putting "duties" in quotation marks - makes us wonder what those "duties" were...

LOL, I didn't think of that when I wrote that. toolate to edit out :frown:

I was an all around tech guy for the company, as opposed to a tech in a specific field.

I did recording and monitor engineering during songwriting sessions for the reunion project with Perry, TRIAL BY FIRE, which included a lot of espresso's and lunches. All of which have to be schlepped or made. Guess who?!

Was a bench technician for the lighting company when I arrived in '84 ( fixing touring lighting equipment, building custom electronic projects for various artists and crews) moved over to be an instrument tech for Ross(87) and Jon, crew chief(97) and finally Internet Operations Manager when I left(2002).

During 93-97, I re-furbed the original rehersal space with power upgrades, structure and HVAC upgrades, Sonic updates with the guidance of my mentor, Chips Davis, and ran it as an exclusive rehersal / recording / multi media space as the Web Bubble grew, digital overtook analog recording, and the principals decided to get back to business.

this space started out as where Larry Graham and Graham Central Station started, Herbie Herbert took it over, and blah bl;ah history woof woof.....:D
Their history is all over the place.
The building I'mreferring to is pictured in their old video FRONTIERS & BEYOND.

The trip to Belgium, yeah, now that the airlines are sticking it to us for fuel surcharges they decided to do without techs.

Screw this, I'm not so sure I want to put up with anymore bs anyway.

pretty impressive resume there. i was a local stagehand here (lighting, sound and set) for about 12 years, got offered a carpenter gig for sabbaths reunion tour. i had kids and a great job so i passed it up. damn i wish i had gone tho. i could have taken a sabbatical and kept the job too, but the family part was what i would have missed. how about taking an extended leave? good chance your boss would understand the reasons and work with ya.

Last I heard it was being called "The Legends of Rock Radio" or something along those lines.
Jimmy Jamison(Survivor), Kevin Chalfant(707), and a couple of other one or two hit wonders to round out the bill.
5 vocalists with radio hits, a common back up band (W/ Josh Ramos on git) and you get some 90 + minutes of a trip down memory lane.

Whatever. I'm so over "gigs" right now if I never do another show, it'll be alright with me.

Thanks, I understand the sentiments in both cases.
Family > Rock and Roll
Techs < Fat Wallets for principals
Then there's Craft's Corollary .... Flakey Agreements < My Day Job. :D

I am loathe to leave a steady job right now. I need to refill the retirement accounts, and i'm the only real paycheck in our family.
