Not one, but TWO brain-dead assclowns manage to run into HERO rescue vehicles attending to other vehicles already.
Gary Millsap, the coordinator of the HERO program, said that while it's "fairly common" for passing vehicles to make incidental contact with the HERO trucks, collisions as severe as the two this morning are rare.

"We get tagged pretty regularly," Millsap said. "We have mirrors hit, and small fender-benders are pretty common. But getting hit like we got hit this morning is not, especially having two on the same morning."

Millsap said that one of the HERO trucks hit this morning was totaled. "The box part on the other truck was totaled, and I'm not sure if the whole truck will be totaled."

There have been no HERO operators killed since the program began in 1994, Millsap said, and only one HERO operator has suffered a severe injury.
This is almost as bad as people who ignore fire trucks and ambulances. That's gonna be your ass wondering where the paramedics are someday, dammit! :|

Probably people from Alabama. They can't drive for a sh*t. If there's a guy on the side of the road without gas you can be gauranteed there will be a 20 mile traffic jam as assholes spend 90 seconds looking at a car on the side of the highway. Ooo aaah, looky we have a car stopped on the side of the highway!!

What's a "HERO truck"? I went to the pag to look, but it started screaming at me about I-46 or something, so I closed the page.

They work for the DOT and cruise the highways stopping to help stranded motorists, help police with accidents and what not. They are these ambulance sized trucks painted neon green with a lot of flashing yellow lights on the back that only a blind person couldn't see.

Oh, sorry. Fscking local news station has those things on all the AJC pages. :|

HERO trucks are the (smashed) yellow truck in the picture. They roam around the interstates and help stranded/wrecked motorists in any way they can (changing tires, a spash of gas, etc). They do a really good thing and it pisses me off to no end that people obviously don't give a crap.
