...I discover hip hop! I noticed an entire thread talking about the evils of rap (which I agree, mainstream hip hop is terrible), but must remind you guys about the underground hip hop scene.. While some great alternative/rock artists still exist (radiohead, the white stripes, etc. etc.), I feel that most of the political and social power of the genre was really lost during the excess of the 80s and the "look at me, I'm so depressed" off-shoot of 90s post-punk (look at all this Nu-metal crap).. Underground rap artists such as Mr. Lif, Spearhead, Dead Prez, and countless others keep the rebel spirit of the 60s alive and you guys should really listen to them before judging an entire genre.. Of course, you could remain totally ignorant and just proclaim that "rap sucks" - I used to say "Country and Rap sucks!" until I grew up.. Now folk and hip hop remain my favorite genres....
*throws on Abbey Road and wonders if anyone will remember "Mr. Lif, Spearhead, Dead Prez, and countless others" 30 years from now. Probably not*

You can't compare one of the most famous bands of all time with normal ones. The Beatles are an expection.
