I just finished watching the movie "Glory" starting Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington and Matthew Broderick. It's about the 54th Mass. Infantry in the Civil War and how Matthew Broderick leads the first colored rigement into war.

Has anyone seen this movie? IMO, this movie is EXCELLENT. It's probably one of the best movies that I've seen. I'm usually not into these types of films, but was forced to watch it for some assignment that I have.

I highly recommend this movie to all of you whom have not seen it yet. It's about two hours long, but definitely worth it. It's one of those movies where you don't want it to end. Check it out when you get the chance. =)

I saw this movie way back in the 8th grade for the first time. It was an awesome move about a dramatic group of ragtag men who became ever so important in the Civil War. It was really emotional, great dialogue and great sense of action.

I agree w/ you lyric it's an excellent movie - too bad you didn't realize it until you were forced to watch it because of an assignment :p I had trouble understanding it the first time around, so I rented it and re-watched... probably seen the movie 4 times by now, and each time is an entirely different experience. It's definitely not one of those movies that you'd just watch then put down.... this movie is a classic, and you will always come back to it somewhere along the line :)

I think Broderick did the best job in the movie.... although Denzel had some really, really, memorable parts, Broderick was the most consistant throughout the entire movie - in my opinion at least.

Great movie, my verdict: A

Yes, it was an excellent movie. I haven't seen it in a while.

Anyone know if it is available on DVD?

<< too bad you didn't realize it until you were forced to watch it because of an assignment :p

You're right. It's too bad that I didn't realize it until I was forced to watch it, but I'm pretty darn happy that I was forced into doing so.

My assignment was to choose a couple of movies from this list we were given and watch about 10 hours worth of film. Luckily, I came across "Glory". A couple of other ones that I've watched were Amistad, Dances with Wolves and Thunderheart (Val Kilmer's in it). My favorites were Amistad and Glory. The other two were pretty good, but they just weren't "moving" enough. I'm the type of person that's into learning about the Civil War times with the whole racism, slavery type of thing.

<< I It's definitely not one of those movies that you'd just watch then put down.... this movie is a classic, and you will always come back to it somewhere along the line :)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll watch this movie a couple more times. I'll probably go out and buy a copy of the movie myself so in the future, I'll always be able to take it out and watch it anytime I want without having to go rent it.

They all did a really good job. Morgan Freeman was good also. Then again, Morgan is just an excellent actor in general. =)

I would have to give it an A+.

I don't think that you'd want to buy the Special Edition, unless you're a really hardcore fan of the movie... I'm sure that you can find a standalone at Best Buy or something to that extent - I personally always look at the Special Editions as way to just get more money out of the consumer. I bought the FIGHT CLUB Special Edition, and the American Pie SE... what did I get? A different scene in one, and a weird supplemental disc in the other :(

I'm sure you can find the standalone for $19.99 at Best Buy - unless they absolutely don't make them and force you to buy the 2 disc version

I'll check up on that for you :)

Yep - the stand-alone version is here at Amazon for 23.99 - 2dollars cheaper, but I never did like Amazon

USED for: $13.99 is excellent in my opinion

Glory Stand-alone

now that we've realized that it exists... you can easily go to Fry's or Best Buy, or Wal-Mart , etc etc and shop :)

Good luck ;)

Wow, hehe, if only you were on the academy committee... the producer, director, actors, prop men/women, camera men, soundtrack advisors, would have all won the awards in their respective categories, hehe.

I also really liked the soundtrack to this movie. James Horner did a great job with the scores. =)
