Anyone else seen this? I thought it was a good movie dealing with conception of religion and faith.. it wasn't just a cheesy sci-fi about visiting aliens... I'm thoroughly impressed.. anyone else liked the movie?

I liked the way how they excuted the appearance of alien.. to avoid seeing some stereotypical cheesy alien figure... very well done.. I won't spoil how it was done..

GREAT MOVIE!!!

also anyone can tell me what SETI is all about? What exactly do you do with the comps? what do you process with it? it was mentioned in the movie.. I might join..

Every time I think about that movie, I crack up remembering what Mr. Garrison from South Park said about it.

i thought it was too long, and the acting by mconaghue and foster was questionable. i fell asleep watching it. it was far fetched and boring too.

maybe its just me, but i like movies like Gladiator, Brave heart and the matrix much much better.

I liked the movie too. It was a little slow starting off, but It hought it was pretty schweet.

Why didn't I like it? It tried to be overly deep and philosophical. I think its great if thats what you come up, but this felt forced and strained to me. I didn't find it to be deep, but instead just trying to be deep. It was also pretty dull and drawn out a bit long for me. For me it just came to gether all in a really unappealing way.

Then again I also never do like "deep" movies, I think thats better left for books. If you want meaningful, ala Schindler's List, thats fine, but no movie has been able to pull off "deep" for me. YMMV. :D

It's not a bad movie, the idea was good, but I found the last part a little too cheesy for my taste. Jodie Foster was good, but McConaughey and the rest sucked. It should've been shorter, or have more action because it dragged on a little too much.

Overall, I'd watch it again if I had the time, but I wouldn't pay for the DVD...

I have to read the book for my seminar in about 2 months. We just finished reading "War of the Worlds" by H.G. Wells, it's really amazing how far ahead this guy was thinking. Then we watched the movie and it just turned into a Mystery Science Theatre 3000 episode ;)
