Just watched Ray

I'd give the movie a 7 or so, but Foxx deserves the Oscar.

As a fellow movie buff who knows your taste in movies, I'm suprised. I give this movie a 10/10.

I thought it was a solid flick, but it just didn't "wow" me.

On another note, I watched The Passion last night for the first time...didn't care for it.

You watch the theatrical release or the extended one? I've heard it drags in spots but overall a solid movie. Too bad he never got to hear the final cut.

I watched the theatrical. I have the extended one too but haven't watched it yet.

i tried the extended.....it sucked....with in the first 5 min it goes to extended and the quality and the way they cut to it is complete garbage. had to stop movie and restart in theatrical. great movie

It's an ok movie that suffered from a poor script, but had a great acting and wonderful music. It's definitely not in the "great movies" category, but it was good enough to make it into my personal collection.

Excellent movie. Jamie Foxx did a great job. Hell, all the actors I think did a good job. The intensity of Ray's mother in the flashbacks was amazing.

Yeah, the way they did the extended was pretty bad.

What's wrong with it?

It's jumpy and slow.

I liked this movie quite a bit. I'd say it's an 8/10 with an 8 representing a movie that is one of the best of the year but not transcendent.

The script for me was in fact the best part. Very artistic. The acting and music were nice, but aside from the stupid catch-all text on the screen to summarize ray's life and a couple other things at the end, the script really involved me.

I like how dark and unapologetic it was. I like how the main struggle of the film was not simply making it big or not getting too big headed. The biggest themes of this film for me were guilt, redemption, and trying to run away from problems.

I really liked the cinematography as well. Making the colors exceptionally vibrant in his flashbacks was a very nice touch.

I enjoyed the movie as well, but thought it was too long.

And there was no excuse for how retarded the Extended version was.

"There's plenty more blackberry cobbler in here!!" 😛

I felt so bad for Ray at that part. Great flick though, wife & I loved it. We watched the extended version - it was fine but there was definitely a stray from the flow of the movie at some points.

I even thought Mini Me was good.

From the way I saw it, every time a bonus clip was about to play in the extended edition, the dvd would take the clip from another directory & the play it. When it was done, it would jump back to the original dvd. I wasn't able to backup the EE, only the standard.

I really enjoyed the movie, & wouldn't mind if him, or Don Cheadle(Hotel Rwanda) won. As far as his nomination in collateral, I thought he over did the role & definatly doesn't deserve the praise.

That's because the laser has to jump to the extra scene elsewhere on the disc... kinda annoying, and definitely not worth it, IMO.

Yeah, now I guess I have to keep the shiny case around the living room incase someone mentions it. The movie length I guess is what made them chose the option, rather then fill up the disc with two whole versions at low quality.

Exactly... they should have just included two discs, but whatever... I wouldn't watch the EE anyway.

It does actually have two discs. The second has a bunch of other special features. But it's less then half full. Bad design setup.
