I expected it to be lame, but I was pleasantly surprised...

The effects were awesome of course, but the movie was actually pretty decent. I especially liked the part near the end where he interacts with Lucifer...

Anyone else seen this? Thoughts?

Same here. Who is the actor who plays Satan? I can't remember his name...I've liked him in everything he's done.

Oh, there is a novel? I didn't realize that. Maybe that coupled with the fact I didn't expect much out of it made it better...

I might actually go buy this one...

Yeah...kind of more of a sleazy used car salesman with a sadistic streak instead of the usual pure evil or big monster or slick trickster. I thought it was an original take on the character.

Now, I'm guessing the "new" Amityville Horror I also rented won't be very good...

It's ok though...it was 2 for 1 night at the local video store..

I thought it was decent. If you look at the reviews on imdb.com, you'd think it was the worst thing since Ishtar.

See, I bet that right there is a main reason it get's such bad reviews...

I had no idea it was a story/book/etc, and went into it just hoping to see a decently entertaining movie. When you are a fan of a book like that, you are already upset from the get go when they don't follow it to the letter...

Just IMO...

I found it little confusing as well. Does anyone know a website that may have like a summary of the plot or something?

I guess I will rent that movie and watch it again...
