Wow.. crazy flick. It's hard to describe really, I guess you have to see it to understand. The costumes and all were nice, the music of course was strong and powerful. F. Murray Abraham was awesome, but so were the people playing Motzart and his wife really. In all it was a "beautiful" movie that moves you, makes you laugh, think, anticipate, and might very well make you cry too. Mozarts *hHAah* laugh was annoying at first but become funny when he used it in weird situations. I liked the story a lot and wish it didn't get so opera oriented at the end, no biggie though. So put this on the netflix queue if you havent seen it yet and set aside 3 hours to do so one day.:thumbsup:

i saw it when i was taking a music course in college, during high school. I didn't think I"d like it, but kept an open mind going in, and it really turned out to be great I think, interesting point of view...and it presented Saliari (sp?) in an interesting light

So did VeggieFrog. She is 21yrs old now. while that is not old in human years, it is pretty ancient in the movie world.

I thought it made Saliari out to be the bad guy in the end.

It did, but the beauty of the movie is that you can feel for Salieri's situation. Imagine being an average composer having to compete with the likes of Mozart. Just doesn't seem fair, does it? It's not as though Salieri was less enthusiastic about it, just less naturally talented.

Also, the reason the movie turned so operatic towards the end is because opera is the way Mozart made most of his money. Money was obviously a running issue in the movie.

That entire movie, I remember I had hoped Mozart's wife's boobs would pop out in numerous situations.. The director's cut DVD of the movie has a scene where she gets topless.

saw it in HS as part of music class. We liked it because we got to see a movie instead of actual learning. :D

That's the version I saw and I was thinking that was a little racey even for 25 years ago, but yeah they are quite nice. :p

Also, 25 years is nothing for movies. Unless the new releases section at blockbuster rocks your world :D

It really is a great movie. It's hard to watch though when you've seen Animal House. Hard to take the actor who played Mozart seriously after that movie.
