Match Review
Bolton Wanderers 0 v 4 Manchester United, Reebok Stadium, 15.00 Saturday 28th October 2006.
Goals: Bolton Wanderers - none. Manchester United - Rooney (10), (16), (89), Ronaldo (82).
Attendance: 27,229
Total Football, is one way to describe it, sexy football another but for half an hour United were simply sensational.
After nearly scoring in the opening seconds United relentlessly destroyed Bolton who were simply beaten to pulp. A hat-trick from Rooney and a late goal from his best mate, Ronaldo, saw United beat third place Bolton, who hadn't even conceded a goal at the Reebok this season.
SAF played everyone's dream lineup as Ronaldo came into the side after missing the Bindippers visit to Old Trafford last week. Ryan Giggs was on the opposite flank, Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes were paired in the centre of midfield and the fab four were at the back.
Within ten minutes United could have scored three times, with a Neville cross needing any sort of touch for the opener only to skip past all of United's forwards. Ryan Giggs then fed a overlapping Patrice Evra and the outstanding fullback was denied his first goal by RANT's tip Jussi Jaaskelainen. Louis Saha's chip was then cleared off the line by Abdoulaye Meite. It was a breathless start.
United were playing like the Harlem Globetrotters and soon took the lead as Michael Carrick, who impressed throughout the match, found Rooney with one of his textbook long range passes for the scouser to smash his effort home for a well deserved lead.
Unable to put a foot wrong, United soon found themselves two up as Gary Neville's cross was deflected into the path of Rooney on the edge of the area. With much still to do El Blanco Pele curled the right foot home with fighter pilot accuracy to beat Jaaskelainen at full stretch.
Bolton, who rarely threatened in the opening half, created one chance from a Gary Speed's free kick. But United continued their onslaught with Ryan Giggs' right foot shot saved again by the Bolton stopper.
Could United continue in the same vein in the second half? Well, whatever Fergie said at the break seemed to have a negative effect as United were unable to keep a ball for more than five seconds for the next 20 minutes. The continued loss of possession took some of the shine from the glittering first half.
As the half wore on Bolton garnered more possession and a dangerous free kick from the incredible Sulk Anelka sailed harmlessly over the bar. The Senegalese spitting sensation sat on the floor in United penalty area flapping his arms in protest as Vidic floored the ex-Bindipper.
On refection, United could have so easily scored four more as Jaaskelainen saved after Louis Saha was put trough one-on-one.
With little to do but give Rio a bollocking for his casual defending EVDS was only really called to action when Ivan "hit by every branch of the ugly tree" Campo steered a shot into traffic with the Big Dutchman saving well with his feet.
Michael Carrick again provided an excellent pass in the build-up for United's third goal - the England midfielder finding Saha who drew Jussi before unselfishly finding Ronaldo to stroke home.
With the game won SAF took off Ryan "I'm going bald" Giggs and brought on Darren Fletcher. The young Scot continued his brilliant form as his through ball was met by Wayne Rooney to earn the match ball.

With three goals and proving a constant menace Mr. Rooney is an easy chioce but how good is Vidic. He was a monster at the back for United, won everything, blocked, tackled, even survived not being spat at by El Hadji Diouf after the Senegalese spitting sensation was floored by the only man to defeat Chuck Norris in a fight!

United;s rebuilding is still not finished in many an opinion but WOW the Reds looked the finished article today. Jesus H Christ the first half display was so incredible I cryed tears. Real tears. United were so good it was laughable.
