I think , rightfully so, this thread has been locked as it had the potential to go "full scale flame".

I was just interested what people's opinions are, but, unfortunately juvenilelistic posts prevented further inquiry...

Jalapeno, still wondering why mods won't willingly reveal their idendity...

We stay unknown because the boss says so.

It's pretty obvious why a concealed identity is necessary. They would attacked, lobbied, ridiculed incessantly. Its the way it has to be sadly.

Usually not a good idea to start a new thread when the previous one was locked.....

Most people on here for a long enough time have been able to compare moderators' comments to those of ATOT posters and they seem to be highly characteristic of a few users.

The reasons I think their identities aren't revealed:
1) So they don't have users pandering them while they're off-duty to do something for them because they're a friend.
2) Because it's way too easy to harass people on the Internet through e-mail and other methods. Moderators on this BBS would be subject to such harassment from time to time.
3) Because it doesn't matter who enforces the rules, just that they are enforced as specified - and I think for the most part this is true.
4) Because this is a privately-owned company and they have absolutely no responsibility to act the way the gov. does with full-disclosure and the like.

GL,

A productive post. This is the kind of response I was looking for. Thanks!
