Just want to tell someone about Dell

I ordered two 3.2GHZ Dell 360 workstations with 21" monitor for each. Waited a week for them arrive. They finally arrived!!! I open one and it's a desktop NOT a tower like I ordered. So I call up they say that this is a very common mistake lately and that they have been taking back several computers already. So I say I can't deal with a desktop take these back and send me new ones. She then tells me that I will have to pay shipping there for the desktops and back for the replacements. WTF? Should I fight this or just let it slide and pay the shipping?

Did you specify anywhere in the order that you wanted towers?

In any event, it sounds like bad business at best, you just forked over a good amount of money for two high end computers and they pull this

They admit it was their fault and want you to pay for shipping. :disgust:

I would as for a supervisor if you can get one.

Yeah no way you should have to pay for their mistake, which they admitted to already.

I go over every spec like three times to be sure, then I check the quote they send to make sure there is nothing messed up on the quote on their end. But my Packing Slip says Desktop.

My dukes are up! Just have to wait on a call back now from "That Department".

I'd also like to know if you specified them to be towers (since that is one of the rare Dell models that comes in both forms). I think you have to select it on the front page and you don't get to select it again so it is easy to order the wrong one.

By the way in that model the desktop can be better for some users (the desktop has a much more powerful powersupply). Can you use a desktop/tower converter to use the desktop on its side? We do that all the time.

My last Dell order came with extra speakers that we didn't order. I called them up and they sent me free return boxes and labels all at Dell's expense. You might try calling again and demanding that.

Is there a price difference between the desktop and the tower?

you will grow old waiting for "the call"

you have to be proactive with them, sitting on your ass doesn't do anything

They pulled the same sh!t with me when I ordered my final PC with them. They shipped me a Win NT 3.51 (?) system when I wanted 4.0 and told me that I ordered so. When I requested a manager he got pissed and told me the same thing. When I told them to take it back and give me the proper one they said sure but I would have to pay shipping. When I told them to take their POS back, they said I would still have to pay shipping.

I finally told them to F off and just ate it but also told them I wouldn't buy from them again and would tell others not to either.

They didn't care.

Screw them.

I know Dell is now creating cases that are both desktops and towers. We have a Precision 450 here that is made to be both. Looks strange.
