You guys still don't get it. Apple's attention to detail is UNMATCHED in the mobile world. And believe me it's something I noticed RIGHT AWAY when I switched from 2.3.5 Gingerbread.

Google doesn't even come close to matching the spit and polish of iOS. Anyone arguing otherwise has not legitimately used an iPhone.

Google lets you do the work yourself, which is the argument i always hear, customize it the way you want it.

Hrm like I said earlier I'm new to iOS but wow about the attachment issue. I don't understand that at all to be honest. Sometimes I wonder if Apple makes certain choices in an event to be original/pave a new path when there is no real reason to do so.

All this is pretty much because Apple decided they want to make all data subservient to some application, no doubt worried that retards get confused by "files". That works pretty well as long as the only apps on their device are their own, there is exactly one app that could conceivably be used to view a particular kind of data, and they carefully integrate those few apps to talk to each other.

But at the same time, it means the data cannot be messed with and flexibly passed between applications. So for instance, instead of having separate applications with well-defined jobs like file syncing or picture upload automation, a zillion bloated note takers, PDF browsers and other apps now have to reinvent the wheel and connect to a zillion cloud services like Dropbox and Flickr. Compared to that mess, a local filesystem is simple.

The iphone is kind of a bouncy smooth while the sgs2 is like a flat smooth.

That "flat" smooth that you're describing is scrolling with no physics. Apple has been doing kinetic scrolling and animations in their UI for ages. Google is still new to the game and isn't exactly known for beautiful UI design. Android wont be getting GPU acceleration with realistic physics anytime soon.

LOL no. The reason it's not in Android is because Apple patented it.

There *is* excellent acceleration/deceleration scrolling in Android already though.

Excellent? Really? I would say its mediocre.

Also, look at all of Google's products, especially GMAIL. The UI isn't very good looking. I love gmail and I don't need my email client to look slick, but Google isn't very good at UI design.

There is simply no comparison. This phone is in another class altogether.

I am a self-admitted Mac hater too. But I'm completely convinced Apple got it right when it comes to smart phones. Their completely walled off, tightly integrated eco-system works PERFECTLY in the mobile arena. This is exactly what people want, even power users like myself. I just want a phone that works right out the gate, I don't want to spend hours configuring my phone. I'm willing to do that for my desktop, but NOT for my phone.

I truly feel sad for anyone who thinks Android can even compare with this experience. Forget the benchmarks you dolts, it's all about usability and the ecosystem. Outside of MS, no other company is capable of pulling off what Apple has done with iOS and their iPhones.

i'm glad you like your new phone...the 4s really is nice. But sorry, you don't get to say what I want or like.

No it's not I love my EVO, and Android as a whole's solid, but it's scrolling is pretty damn pathetic. It's painful to go from my iPod Touch to my EVO, which is modded to holy hell. Android just isn't capable of smooth scrolling at this point, not even on a uber dual core top of the line phone. It feels good if you don't use an iOS or Wm7 device and have nothing to compare it to. But use any WM7 phone then go back to your Android and tell me it has excellent acceleration. When my 2g Touch feels more responsive than a brand new Android phone, Android needs GPU acceleration no 2 ways about it.

Please read the previous posts before you respond. I'm talking about scroll speed physics, not the underlying rendering mechanism.

And as the video I linked shows, the SGS2 is *smoother* than the i4S.

Heh. So is the Amazon site, but the Kindle isn't like that. (I'm not a huge fan of either, mind you.)

Google's web offerings aren't exactly "designed". Android, since Honeycomb, now is -- by Matias Duarte who headed WebOS UI development. Totally different.

A big problem for Android, no matter how pretty they can make it look now, is third party apps.

Apple has already established a culture that puts emphasis on great UI and design, and it shows.

Android never established such a culture, and making stuff prettier isn't enough to do so.

I'd say a lot of that has to do with the fact that the Evo is a pretty old phone.

yep it's a lot older than my iPod Touch 2G right? Never mind that the Touch was a less powerful version of the iPhone 2G. That's okay though I heard in 2012 HTC will have a quad-core EVO'ish phone. I'm pretty sure that phone will be able to scroll as smooth as my iPod Touch 2g, maybe...

You claimed that newer Android phones do not scroll smoother and the Galaxy S2 proves that is not the case.

Honestly, the GS2 is the only phone that scrolls that smooth; even the Galaxy Nexus isn't that smooth.

The only reason the GS2 is that smooth is because it has such powerful hardware with a low-res screen.
