Burning a CD at 3.6mb a sec, FULL 700mb CD burned in a little over 3 minutes!!! Oh sweet Aunt Jemimas' buttucks that's fast!

This is coming from a guy who had a 12x burner before (TDK 12x VeloCD to TDK 24x VeloCD).

Sorry to gloat, but I just wanted to share my giddiness!

Bloody hell!!...24x??

I still have my Sony Spressa 2x CDR!! That's right...2x..that's 300kb per second!! It takes about 35min to burn a 64min cd..what's that?? 70min cds?? I'm sorry my burner can't burn 70min cds!!

Man I need to upgrade..but I'm such a cheap ass that I won't until the product dies on me.

<< Bloody hell!!...24x?? >>

Bah, don't let that impress you...You can get the 24x burners for cheap nowadays...Since they're clearing inventory for the 32x Burners!!!!...Which I believe shall be the last speed increase you'll see with CDRW drives (Since DVDR drives are already coming on the scene!)

It's a VISCIOUS cycle my friend, you were wise to have stayed out of it and back in the STONE AGES with that 2x (hehe)

One you get in the area of less than 6~ minutes for a 700mb burn (which my TDK 12/10/32 can do).. it really doesn't matter! As long as I'm not waiting very long.. BUT, I wouldn't mind the 24...

But hell, it doesn't even burn @ a true 24x the whole time.. sooo...

Nice!

I just sold my 16X to go back to an 8X though. Decided I couldn't justify having a 16X when I was trying to get out of debt. Besides, the 16X was beige & everything else in my PC is black. Anybody know where I can get a fast (16X+) BLACK burner? And no Thortek crap, I want genuine injection molded black bezels.

Do the 24x or 32x burners consistently burn at 24/32x or only as they reach the outer edge of the cd. Because when a drive reads a cd, the speeds increase as the lense reads the outer edge of the cd...is the same for burners??

I'd be amazed if it burned at 32x the whole way through. Also, can most ATA channels supply sustained 3.2MB/s stream to a IDE CDR??

holy crap... i still have my HP 8200i which is 4x4x16x

But i rarely burn, so no need to upgrade until it dives. If i knew what music to download, then i might have some uses for it.

I had a philips 4x4 but rarely used it because it was always tough to tie up my machine for 25 minutes at a clip for just one cd. Now with a 24x I can't get enough blank cdr's and burn baby burn like its going outta style.

I upgraded from a 8x TDK Velo to a 24x TDK Velo a couple months ago when this burner came out, I haven't had one single problem with it. :)

Damn you rich people. Blinder must live with 4x cdrw, because he is getting watercooling and thus is now poor. He also must take his girlfriend out for one year anaversary, thus is even poorer :(

yes burning at 24x is sweet;) burn proof rocks too, can stress system like crazy and burns still go through. i was too cocky with my old scsi plex 8x and killed many a disc:p and yes, 16-24x not sure about the minimum speed for the 32x's, its probably 16x also:p some of my 16x media burns at 24, others burn at 20:p can't complain i guess.

oh yea, does anyone know how to burn 735mb onto a disc? i know its overburning but i can't get nero to do it:p tomshardware.com had a thing on divx/flask and he claims he burns 735mb onto a disc. :p

n/m i figured it out.. no multisession, turn on disc at once:p after that 80min cd can be burned to 135:p
