Just upgraded - new power supply needed?

athlon xp 1700+
512mb ddr pc2100
epox 8kha+ mobo
geforce ti 200 (will o/c)
dlink nic
sblive
2 maxtors ide (7200 60gig, 5200 40gig)
plex 4x12 scsi burner - adaptec 2940 scsi controller
sony g400 19" monitor
POWER SUPPLY - 300w antec

will an antec 300w psu be sufficient for all of this? I really don't want to spend the money for another one - but if i absolutely need to I will.

You won't absolutely need it, but it's suggested that you do. You have more stuff than I do in my rig, and I'm running a 400W power supply. Hope this helps.

what are some good brands? keep in mind i won't be overclocking anything besides the video card...

You should have no problem with that 300W PS. I was running one with an Athlon 1800 for a while with no ill effect. Unless you're paranoid (like me) just use it until you have a problem, like random unexplained crashes or reboots.

I know that this is off the issue, but PipBoy how do like your Liteon CD-RW? I'm getting my system parts in order for my first build. How do you like your 8KHA+? Do you have to have the 400w PSU? Would you buy another one? I have two machines running MSI's, and I'd like to try the Epox 8KHA+. Any insite will be helpful. Thanks in advance. Bob535

I say since you have the 300W already...why not just build the system and see if ur stable? I mean there's no point in going out and buying a new one b4 trying the system out w/ ur current power supply. With that said, I think 300 should be enough if ur not doing any heavy overclocking involving upping voltages and so forth.

My bro inlaw has been running a 1.4 266FSB Athlon,ECS mobo,256mb PC133,GF2 MX,HD,CD-Rom,Burner,sound card,nic and a case fan on a 250watt PSU for over 4 months now with no problems. I think its just according to what brand the PSU.

Hey Bob, I am very happy with my entire system. The Liteon is super fast, I upgraded from a 12x Plextor. Motherboard, ditto, works great and has awesome overclocking features. PSU, wasn't necessary but I wanted to avoid any potential problems when I start overclocking this thing now that its been running stable for a week. Feel free to PM w/any questions.
