User/Pass was DSL. I've also had the MAC address registered type of DSL.Was that a cable ISP? That sounds like PPPoE, which would be DSL.
There's no need for it on cable. DSL needs it because they decided to create and implement the standard as fast as possible, and reused large chunks of PPP (dial-up) tech as a result. Cable just outright implements Ethernet.User/Pass was DSL. I've also had the MAC address registered type of DSL.
There's probably a user/pass way to do cable. I don't see why not. Yall can make technology that does 100mb on a 30 year old cable infrastructure but can't figure out how passwords work? Come on now.
