I unscreweed the black mounting on the xp-90 to remove it and then put the x2 3800 in and screwed the xp-90 back in.

I know i'm probably not suppose to do it this way but i really didn't wana mess with those evil clips again. Anyways, the installation went okay... a couple hops and twists trying to figure out how to screw it back in (takes alot of pressure to catch the screw) but i got it. I know the heatsink shouldn't move much after placing it on the cpu b/c of air bubles or whatever but i ordered a xp-120 that should come next week so i will have to take it apart again anyway.

B4 idle was 31c now its 38c.
I ran Sandra and the temps jumped to 45c for a few seconds.
I'm good under 50 right?

I got my eye glued to speedfan.

Just out of curiousty if any1 else reads this with a x2 3800, what kind of temps do u have?

I did optimize settings in bios and the ram went to 333, i thought with this new cpu it would go to 400. its okay thought i set it manually.

If any1 has anything to share please do! 8) :)

just out of curiosity, did you apply new thermal compound to the processor (AS5, Ceramique, etc....)?

hahah yea i put a few drops of AS5 on the processor after i cleaned off the Heat sink.

I was going to run memtest overnight but with the temps this high i think i'll just leave the comp on in windows.

Everyone seems to be saying that temps around 39-45c are high. I have a temp showing right now at 50cpu/42case. Before I gave this little guy a nice cleaning I was sitting on 72/58c. What am I doing wrong :S....

I just moved to an X2 from a prescott, so 51c max load temps seem really cool to me, since my prescott ran hotter than that even water cooled. I am at 2.53ghz 1.45v core with my 4200+ so far.

I got the same problem when I tried to unmount my XP90. Those clips are a pain in the ass, so I just unscrewed the black mounting. However in my case, the CPU was just glued to the HSF I took all three of them together.

Temps are fine up to about 65C.
Don't get paranoid over a mere 50C.

Just set your RAM back to DDR400, & if you just have 2 dimms, 1T.

I think he has his ram at 333 cause he is not running a stock HT speed. I know on my board at when i'm at 240HT and ram @ 333. it overclocks the ram to 400mhz.

i'm @ 240x10 v1.45 and getting 33c idle with a XP90. if you enable Cool and quiet that would lower your idle temps even more, but when you overclock I heard its better to keep it off

My stocks reading were 34C/47C (idle/load) I believe. (3800 X2 2GHz, 1.35V).

Some people were showing incredbly low temps while OC over 2.4GHz and with very low voltages... I am not sure how they achieved those kind of result.

I tried to resit my HSF a few times but it was more or less the same.

Right now I am running 2.4GHz @ 1.44V (CPU-Z reads 1.47V tho) and am getting 41C/56C. Room temp is 23C and case temp is around 27C.

I have no idea why my readings are higher than anyone else... either the sensors are fubared or it is due to the elevation here (6000ft) and very low humidty (~10%).

I have an XP-90 and AS5, Venice 3200+ @ 2.6ghz and i idle around 30-33*C, full load is always ~43*C or under. (depending on temp in room)

Make sure you dont put too much grease on, or too little
