Not sure where to put this so here's goes.

I had AMD 3500, 2gb ram DDR1. 2 hard drives. One of them has XP SP32bit, the other drive has 3 partitions and in one of that partition Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

I upgraded today, with a new PSU, Intel E8400, Corsair XMS2 4GB DDR2, and Gigabyte P35-DS3L.

First with the installation of the CPU. I've done several now but I've always use the themal paste stuff already included on the heat sink. This time I decided to use Arctic Sliver Creamaque since it came in a bundle. I followed the instructions on Arctic Sliver's website about removing the thermal paste and applying and stuff like that. I think I followed the instruction pretty well until when I'm mounting the heat sink. I went down on one side and lift up again. Instead of cleaning it up and reapply I mount the heat sink anyway.

I downloaded Speedfan to check the temperature but I'm not sure which is which. I has Temp1 at 43C, Tem2 at 35C and Temp3 at -2. This is during idle. Which one is the CPU temperature and is this good for idle?

The second problem I have is I didn't securely plug in one of the drive SATA power cable. As a result one one of the drive started up, the one win XP SP2 on it. I only realized this after installing driver and stuffs and realized I half of the desktop icon and Win Vista doesn't work. I plugged in the power cable but after that the drive letter were not it's suppose to be.

I don't know if this is the cause of screwing up Internet Explorer (and maybe other program too) but now IE crashed every I start it. Other program that attempt to open IE also crash. I don't really use IE that often but I would like to know what's causing this problem. If it happened to IE maybe other program are affected too.

Lastly, in my haste to put in the new parts, I didn't uninstall the drivers for the old part. I don't know how it affect things. Do I need to uninstall those?
